This unit focuses on Community development which is a holistic approach grounded in principles of empowerment, human rights, inclusion, social justice, self-determination and collective action. Community development considers community members to be experts in their lives and communities, and values community knowledge and wisdom.

Community leadership Course outline

This unit will define the nature of community leadership and examine
the process of non-positional or “grassroots” leadership development from within communities and organizations. Trainees will study how and why ordinary people emerge as leaders and choose to remain committed to the common good despite cynicism and dwindling public resources. This unit is also called Gender development and community leadership.

Introduction to counselling and psychology Course outline

This unit is designed to provide the trainees with an overview of counseling psychology as a profession.  It will introduce trainees to the practitioner model, and in so doing, define the subject matter of counseling psychology, the target population the counseling psychologist seeks to serve, the technical tools needed for practice in the years ahead, the current unresolved issues and controversies in the field, and how these will affect the theories and techniques of the future. This unit is also named as COUNSELLING PSYCHOLOGY,SOCIAL REHABILITATION AND REINTEGRATION. 

Social policy and administration Course outline

This unit is designed to expose learners to the idea and process of social policy making while highlighting the factors behind this social policy and administration undertaking in the contemporary society. In addition, models of social policy formulation and implementation will be focused on and their efficacy in responding to identified social problems, which the social policies aim to counteract. This unit is also named as social policy, administration and disaster management.

Social research project Course outline

The aim of this unit is to apply trainees knowledge and understanding of sociological research, how and why it is done, and to expose trainees to different theoretical perspectives and methodologies employed by researchers in the conduct of social research.
